Last weekend...

This is what we did last weekend:

On Friday my dad snuck us into Lagoon to see the monkey show. It is made up of chimps that were in movies at some point and are now in a traveling show. Asher was afraid at first, but then he decided it was kind of cool. He liked it so much we have talked about it EVERY day since.

Asher: Grandpa...
Me: Yeah... you miss him?
Asher: Monkeys.
Me: What did the monkeys do?
Asher: jump
Asher: hold chair... bum... time out.
Me: Yes one of them had to go to time out and keep his bum in the chair, but then he just carried it around on his bum. What else did they do?
Asher: Eat paper.
Me: Yes one ate paper. What else did they eat.
Asher: Bananas. Throw on the ground.

These are the crazy things that made the biggest impression on him. So funny. He loves his grandpa so much. It is awesome the bond they have.

After that we went to see baby Addi again:

Still adorable.

On Saturday we went to the farmer's market in Salt Lake with Brandon. Holy balls it was hot. Ash was tired and hungry... yet he still acted like it was so fun and didn't complain. He is social just like his uncle. They both like to be out and about, talking to people.

On Sunday we did dinner at Tom's moms like usual. Asher found this old gorilla mask and put it on:

Hilarious.

Just one weekend in our crazy lives...

Asher conversations...

This one happened at my sister's house. She had a farm toy Ash loved and we were counting farm animals as he put them in the barn.

Me: Let's count how many you can fit.
Together: 1, 2 (I stop at this point because I want to see if he can remember what comes next)...
Ash: 9
Ash: 4
Ash: 9

Same thing happened with his dad one night...

Ash: (counting to himself) 1, 2, 3...
Tom: (thinking to himself) Holy crap our little guy is so smart...
Ash: 9, purple, green...

Great counting skills little guy... you've been taught well.

My phone sucks...

and I need a new one. But I still get a cute picture on it every now and then. Here is one of Ash and his hippie hair.

Yes...

she cleans up well. Even more beautiful now:

I'm an auntie (again!)

Ms. Addi (possibly Addison) Mae Garcia made her grand entrance last night. She is TINY and BEAUTIFUL. Christa had one of the easiest labors I've ever heard of and the baby pretty much fell right out. She only weighs 5 pounds 14 ounces and her head is about one half the size of what Ash's was when he was born.

She was wide awake and ready the greet the world... (but these pictures don't do her justice... she is gorgeous).

Parades and pools and fireworks...

What better way to celebrate the 4th than in true {tpt} form at the drive inn? Its actually gotten much better. When we first started going when Ash was born (much easier to see a movie that way with a baby) there were a lot of crazys there. This year not so much. Not that I judge... just a statement of fact.

We went on Friday and took his little couch and sat in the back of the truck. Ash loved it. Well... he mostly loved all the candy we gave him, which in turn gave him a little sugar rush. He was bouncing all over the place. We saw UP and he liked the balloons and dogs.

On the morning of the 4th I took Ash to my Grandma's annual breakfast. It was Tom's only day off for the next few months so we sent him fishing. He is between rotations and when the next starts he works pretty much every day, then he'll start school again which is the same thing.

Ash had fun at breakfast... it was amazing to see him jump right in and integrate into a group of kids that he doesn't know. We don't see all the cousin's kids often, but he jumped in and started playing with them.

After that I took him to the Kaysville parade. We sat with my uncle (also my boss) and his family. Ash LOVED all the trucks (unless they were too loud then I had to hold him). He was so intrigued by the fact they throw candy that he forgot he doesn't really eat it. He would still get out and collect it. In the end he traded it for a bunch of mardi gras beads that one float threw.

We left halfway through the parade. I wasn't looking forward to the water half (where the floats are allowed to spray you with water). Even though Ash kept saying more trucks as we walked away, he was TIRED. I took him to the McDonalds about a minute away and he was asleep before we left the drivethru.

That night we went to Noralyn's for dinner. She had setup a little pool for Ash. The raccoon (yes a raccoon... Noralyn took him in when the mom was killed) also wanted to play in the pool and kept letting the water out.

Asher loves Charlie (Tom's sister Megan's dog) and Charlie loves Asher. I just love that you can say Charlie in a british accent (like Charlie and Lola... google it).

A picture of Tom with the raccoon (because he loves it... mostly because its kind of wild and crazy):

We also went to the fireworks at Holladay park. Ash HATED them. Was terrified. Tom took him for a walk and they ended up just heading back to the truck. We tried to do some small ones at our house on Sunday, but Ash would not allow it. Oh well. He's never liked loud noises... I should have known better.

The best part of the whole weekend... Rory was playing with Ash in the pool and Ash was laughing hysterically. There was a watermelon in there to keep cool and this is what happened:

yes... moreagain.

Idaho and fishing...

The weekend before the 4th we went to Idaho to visit. My parents spend the weekends at their property in Lava during the summer. If we want to see them much we have to trek along for a weekend here and there. Luckily Asher thinks its about the funnest thing in the world.

The highlight of the trip was Asher catching his first fish! He actually thought it was more fun to throw rocks in the water and yell "KERPLOP", but he was happy to reel in the fishing poll for a while.

The other highlight was getting invaded by mice in the trailer. One figured out how to run this loop from the top bunk to the floor, and back up through the walls. I about had a heart attack when it did it the first time in the middle of the night, because it involved it dropping right near my head and running on the wood around me. It did it about 7 times before it figured out Tom was getting pretty close to smacking it with his shoe. Just a fact of life when you stay in lava apparently... they are everywhere. It was bizarre.

Asher conversations...

This happened after Tom's mom stopped by one day with a present for Christa's baby...

Asher (playing on his fake cell phone): Grandma? Grandma? No answer.
Me: She didn't answer?
Asher: No.
Me: What did you want to talk to her about?
Asher: Baby. No presents. Asher present. (meaning he's upset she brought the baby a present and not him).
Me: You can't always get the presents... baby Addi needs some too.
Asher (points to his belly): Baby. Belly.
Me: There's a baby in your belly?
Asher: Right there (again pointing at belly)

So apparently he thinks if he has a baby in his belly, Grandma will bring him presents. Too bad she already does ALL the time. Spoiled stinker.

Asher craziness and daddy love...

Here is a little glimpse into the craziness that is Asher...

(yes... that is a slice of turkey hanging from his mouth!)
