This might be one of those "mom" things. Where I find this fascinating, but no one else will. But Ash has gotten so animated lately. Full of these funny gestures and tones of voice. It cracks me up. Here is a video that kind of shows it. I just laughed when I saw it (but its probably only funny to me... and maybe Tom).

Asher moments...
A few things about Ash.
1. He made sure to break all the carrots for the reindeer (you know... with Santa's cookies on Christmas eve) into little pieces so they wouldn't choke.
2. He is horrified and terrified by the Grinch. He often asks about monsters and when I say they are only on TV, he will say "like the Grinch?"
3. He loves his new bed and sleeps much better in it than his old one.
4. He got tub markers in his stocking. When we are drawing in the tub I ask him what he wants me to draw and he will say "sunshine."
5. He loves playdough and wants to play with it ALL THE TIME. Whenever I make something he will look at it for a minute. Then he gets this look on his face like, "I just can't hold back any longer." Then he will grab it and smoosh it up. He can't help but mash anything I've made.

Christmas 2009
Another round of Christmas in pictures...
This one is actually before Christmas... Megan and Rach were playing in the snow with Ash. Too cute to pass up.

Christmas eve pjs... can't you just hear it now, "paging Dr. Davies... Dr. Davies to the OR for surgery."

Santa was very sweet to bring Ash so many presents...

And the winner for "Most Favorite Christmas Toy" is... BUMBLEBEE!

My mom tried to take serious Christmas family photos... but this is a good as it gets for us.

My mom also still looks so young and beautiful.

And Addi... I say it over and over, but she is ADORABLE. She loves me too.

Hallee just hanging out and being cute.

Elle opening presents with her teeth.

Crystal and Korben watching miss Elles.

Megan helping Ash open presents. She is so pretty!

That's as good as it gets for Christmas. I always crap out taking pics at Tom's family's house. There is always so much happening and I love hanging out with everyone. It was a great Christmas this year and we all got SPOILED (possibly me the worst) beyond belief. Normally we are saving every penny for a house and this year we don't have to worry about that. Such a great year!
After Christmas...
Here is Ash hiding from Uncle Brandon (or he might be pooping... you never know when he's hiding for fun or to take care of business).

Asher conversations...
A new favorite conversation we have multiple times a day...
(another mimic of us)
Ash: How was your work today?
Me: Good. Thank you for asking.
Me: How was daycare today?
Ash: Good. Thank you for asking!
We go through work, school, daycare, playing at home... Ash asks it a few times a day just so I'll ask him and he can say "thank you for asking." For some reason he finds that conversation very adult and very fun.
I've learned a lesson though... now I try to say more than just good and what I actually did... that way he'll copy me and start giving me some actual info on what he did that day. Instead of just 'good'.

Things I learned today...
1. I've misplaced my camera. Hope its not gone for good.
2. Not to buy furniture from Ikea. Takes WAY too much effort to figure out how to set it up and put it together.
3. That I really like eggs benedict. I've never tried it before since it makes Tom want to vomit.
4. My husband CAN be a happy shopper when he wants to be.
5. I LOVE when my husband is a happy shopper.
6. What you think will fit comfortably in your car at Ikea will actually fill it so full you don't even really have room to sit.
Lessons learned.
Hopefully I will find my camera soon and I can take a picture of our new dining table and Ash's new bed. (if we ever actually get them put together that is...)

Two and a Half
Well... we're half way to three. So unfair how quickly he grows.

At two and half Asher talks A LOT. Like all the time. He's always jabbering. And he says some of the funniest things. I love it. He always is yelling "Mom, watch me..." and then doing something crazy. Or repeating something I said (sometimes things that I really probably shouldn't say).
Favorite Treats:
Yogart (still by far the favorite)
Swedish Fish
Starburst
Goldfish crackers
Chex Mix (cheddar flavor)
Favorite Foods:
Yogart (for any meal or treat)
Chicken Nuggets
Soup
Spaghetti
Potatoes
Favorite Toys:
Mousetrap game
Trucks and Cars
Basketball
Books

Favorite Movies:
Cars
Up
Toy Story
Transformers (he loves Bumblebee)

He's kind of switching from little toys to superhero type toys. He plays with some of the guys he has and lets them fly around and save people. I always tell him his milk will give him super powers and he will laugh and hurry and gulp it down.
He loves to stay busy and always wants to do something. Whether its helping with dinner, cleaning, or just any kind of project. He loves animals and is very sweet to all them. He's undecided whether he really wants a puppy or a baby for the new house. Sometimes it's a baby sister and sometimes a puppy.
He loves Ellee and they are favorite friends of each other. They just run around and jabber to each other. Half the time they dance and the other half they laugh.

Tom and I always joked before he was born that he would be "very musically inclined" just like his father. It is totally the truth though and he LOVES music and dancing. He's a total little dude, but he will watch High School Musical and dance a little during all the songs. Tom and I both decided it's really actually pretty good and will watch too. I remember when he was still in my belly he used to react to music even then. I think Ash might grow up to be a rockstar or something. He's SO into music.

In a nutshell... he's pretty awesome. We always just marvel and how cute and fun he is. He truly has a one of a kind personality. So funny and sweet. We are so lucky to have him and have enjoyed every moment of the last 2 and 1/2 years.

Asher conversations...
This one happened while we were driving to Grandma Noralyn's house and it had been snowing.
Me: I hate the snow.
Ash: I will shovel it for you.
Ash: I will shovel it until it is all gone.
Ash: Is that sweet?
Because I always tell him how sweet he is... little stinker.
This one is a little embarrassing, but I laughed so hard that I have to put it on here. Ever since Ash was little, anytime his bum is hanging out I always smack it a little and say "cute bum." It's just that cute little round baby bum... can't help it.
I got out of the shower the other day and I'm standing in the bathroom in my shirt and underwear. Ash walks by me and next thing I know he starts smacking my bum, and then he says "cute bum mom."
And while I'm telling stories about where he mimics what I say...
As we were driving home in the snow from work yesterday (which I hate because snow makes me paranoid):
Me: What a dummy that car is.
Ash: Is he stupid?
Ash: Is that car stupid too?
Ash: Why is he a dummy mom?
I guess I have to curb my name calling in the car... it could have been worse though...

Introducing...
OUR NEW HOUSE!!!
Some pics:
The living room before...

The new paint was supposed to be silver, but it ended up a little blue... I love it.

Easier to see the paint:

And then there's the bathroom upstairs before:

Can you see the texture on the walls? Yikes... it was sharp and pointy and a horrible shade of pink. The previous owners had done some great things and used good color... a little shocked they had left this like this.
After hours and hours of work by Brandon this is the new look:

Loving it.
The 3rd bedroom upstairs was shown as a dining room:

Which actually would be nice... but we needed a playroom:

The kitchen didn't change...

Except for the munchkin who figured out how to push chairs around to get things on the counter.
Then there's Ash's room... we didn't do much to it either. He really needs a bigger bed, and until I figure that out he gets to have it like this:

The backyard is awesome...

Except the hot tub might need to go...

And then there's the hallway... perfect for sliding in your socks:

The upstairs is in pretty good shape. The downstairs... still needs a little love. Possibly the removal of some wallpaper.
I'm ignoring it for now. We have so much space it's pretty much 2 bedrooms of storage, an office, another bathroom, and the laundry/storage room. We might turn the living room down there into a gym... who knows.
That's our house. We love it! Now Bountiful on the other hand... takes a little getting used to. Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore.

Happy Thanksgiving (a few days late)
Life has been crazy! So busy.
Thanksgiving was awesome this year. It was so nice to enjoy our own family and spend time with Tom. He is so busy with school we sometimes forget how little we see him, until we actually get to spend a whole day with him. I love it. Asher loves it.
We also love spending time with all the rest of our family. On Thursday we had dinner at my mom and dads. Ash got to hang with Ellee (his new favorite friend... they are finally big enough to play). They hug each other when its time to go and it's so adorable. I took a picture with my dad's camera... I'll have to get a copy of it.
Friday Ash and I ventured out for a minute... but mostly just to get a refund on our fridge. We had to buy one for the new house and it was one of the doorbuster deals for black friday. I ended up getting $300 bucks back because they will price match for 30 days after you buy. That was freaking lucky.
Then we went to my mom's again to see baby Addi and give her a glowworm. I saw one while shopping and remembered back to when Ash was born and Tom came home with one. "Every baby has to have one," he said.
Saturday was Thanksgiving at Tom's mom's house. I love how fun and loud everyone there is. It's like a real party with REALLY good food. Noralyn gave Ash some "beyond" pajamas and action figure. He was in heaven.
Here he is with "al-e-one" fingers:

And loving Aunt Rachie:

We had a sleep over party (with just us at our own house... this is still a favorite). We put a mattress in the living room... as soon as that's out Ash will say "need popcorn." Then we watch a movie and have sleep over party. Not the best nights sleep but Ash loves it and asks for it every weekend.

On Sunday we put up Christmas lights. Our new friend Maddie from across the street came to hang out. She is adorable, but I swear if I hear "and then" or "Once..." again for the next month I might get a little crazy. She talks my ear off. All kinds of stories. She's just so cute though.

I am starting to appreciate Thanksgiving more and more. So great to spend time with family.

Asher conversations...
Since he is trying to get out of going to daycare now...
Ash: Why you go to work momma?
Me: To make money to buy our new house.
Ash thinks about this for a minute...
Ash: Tomorrow I will go to work. I will drop you off at daycare and I will pick you up and I will get some gas for the car.
What a thinker. He also tells me "I will take good care of you momma." He is so sweet.

Missing friends
We love love love our new house. It is all homey with lots of space. The greatest part is the little pitter patter Ash's feet make as he runs from one side to the other on the hard wood floor.
He loves the new house too. That part has been an easy adjustment. He loves coming home to it.
The worst part?
New daycare. He doesn't love it yet. He's lost a little sense of the overwhelming confidence that he normally has. We walk in and he's all quiet and shy. He doesn't want to go in the morning.
Tonight on the way home he told me "Elshia not at daycare." He misses his old teacher. She is awesome. He also misses Kemper, Jeffrey and Charlie. He also told me today he wanted to go to old daycare to see them. He misses his friends. I asked if he had friends at new daycare and he said no.
Breaks my heart to see him sad.
I know he'll make new friends, but it's just so weird to see the little wind out of his sails. He's normally SO upbeat and happy.
I think we'll have to make a trip to old daycare one day soon. Let him visit his friends.

Where to even begin...
This has been the longest week EVER. I don’t even know where to begin… let me just give you a run down of the week.
FRI: We sign our paperwork.
MON: No keys to the house. Supposed to be any day now. I have the week off work, but decide to work anyway because I’m not holding my breath.
TUES: Hope to get keys. Start cleaning apartment. Daycare calls… Ash is puking. Has the flu. No keys.
WEDS: Ash is better. Take him to work for video shoot. He thought it was funny and tried to mimic the little girl we had acting in the video. KEYS!!!
THURS: Prep the house for painting. I get the flu… start puking. Leave my poor mom and brother to keep working while I go home and puke all night. They start sanding the bathroom walls (textured like a ceiling… who does that?), even though I said it would take too long and they shouldn’t.
FRI: Pick paint colors… what a pain. SAND… PRIME… PAINT… forever. Bathroom is a sandy mess.
SAT: More painting. Brandon spends all day in the Bathroom. Friends and family and even new neighbors help us move everything. We are grateful for all the help!!! I pick Ash up at Rachie’s house and he is upset. Take him home. Doesn’t want me to touch or move him. Decide all is not well and take him to Primary Children’s around 7 (probably scaring the crap out of Brandon… who is still working on the freaking bathroom). Primary’s is a mess… 15-20 kids… all coughing and hacking… germs everywhere. (DON'T WORRY NATALIE... I also used my own pen to sign him in... but they didn't even look at me funny cause it was disgusting in there.)
They finally get him in and think it’s his stomach… Tom swears it’s his clavicle because he felt all the bones and that is where he jumps the most.
We call poor Rachie (who is really worried about Ash) and she confirms he slipped on the floor during the day, but got right back up and didn’t even cry. Just kept going, until after his nap… then the pain set in. Not your fault Rach… could have happened anywhere. That’s what happens when you have a little tough guy.
After the practitioner comes in and out 3 times and finally brings a full doc in, the doc looks and Ash and says “yeah… broken clavicle, you can see it right here.”
Xrays confirm it.

12:30AM SUN: Ash is sent home with some Tylenol and a wrap to hold his arm into place. We are exhausted... you can tell by Ash's face:

Brandon is just barely leaving the house… has spent all night finishing bathroom. Elissa also helped and moved everything into place. These two SAVED us. We walk into an actual living room and bed that is made. Hallelujah.
SUN: Sleep through call from guys delivering fridge… PANIC… finally get a hold of them. They will still deliver. Crisis diverted.
That’s so far… we’ll see how this plays out.
I think I might never move again.
UPDATE: As of Tuesday the house is coming together... lots to put away still, but it actually looks like a house now! The plumber has been here for three days and hopefully today will be the last...

Last day at daycare...
Ash had his last day at Children's Cottage. We so LOVED it there. The girls who watched him were so great and they loved Ash. The last day I picked him up I just had tears in my eyes. Ash was ok, but he didn't get it. One little girl ran up and hugged him as were leaving... it was adorable.
He likes his new daycare, but he keeps saying "where's Jeffrey?" or "Kemper not there yesterday" (which means today). He misses all his friends.
The new daycare has a room where I can watch him through a mirrored window and listen on earphones. The teachers seem ok, but they are definitely not as good as his old ones. I wish we could have moved the daycare with us.

Halloween Part 2
Friday before Halloween the daycare had a party. Since Ash doesn't go that day I took him just for a few hours and stayed and played with all the kids. It is so funny to see him in his element with all the kids. He is totally the class clown. Always trying to be funny.

On Saturday afternoon Brandon came over and hung out with Ash while my mom and I packed. They dug in the dirt, played with worms and just got really dirty. Ash had a ball though.

For Halloween we went to Uncle Rory's house. Ash and Colton went trick or treating together. The first house they went to Ash just kept backing further and further away from the person. After they put the candy in his bucket he figured out what was happening and he practically ran to the next house. Then he started saying things to people like "I need some too" (when they gave it to Colton first), or "I want a Tootsie Roll" (no matter what they had). He would grab a huge handful and throw it in his bucket. He kept saying "trick or treating" when they opened the door. After about 20 houses he was done. He'd started eating and didn't care for more.
Rory has a huge scary Micheal guy in his living room window. Ash was terrified of him, but also very intrigued. He wanted him to move, but was afraid to get too close to push the button. He kept trying to do it with his sword.

He liked Halloween so much he has been asking me "where'd halloween go". He is also asking about where Santa is too though...

Buying a house.
I'm going to throw this out there... never EVER buy a house from someone who does not live in the same state as you. If they are not physically available for you to shake, or scream at (if the need should arise), then its just not worth it.
Nope... still don't have the keys to my new house yet.
Also... avoid using America First as your lender if you should get stuck with super dweep Matt. He will extend your closing daily for several days until you have no idea if or when you will ever own your first home. What? it's a day past our closing deadline and the purchase contract wasn't fully signed? How did we get this far in the first place then, Matt? Shouldn't that be checked first? He will also extend the closing past the end of the month and then the current owners will decide to hold their end of the paperwork until you agree to pay the new month's interest on their loan...
for our sanity we only agreed to pay half... since technically it's super dweeb Matt's fault (and hello... theirs for not signing things properly). And we only agreed to half because we would love to own a home sometime this century.
*if you have an FHA loan by the way... you have to pay interest one month at a time, no matter when you pay it off. The things you learn...*

And Beyond!!!
Ash's favorite thing of the moment?
Buzz Lightyear...

except he doesn't call him Buzz
or even lightyear...
He says "mom... where is that And Beyond?"
or,
I say "what kind of fruit snacks do you want, Toy Story or Cars?"
He says "AND BEYOND!!!"
He also picks out the green alien fruit snacks and calls them "A-lee-ONES."

It's adorable.
