The half birthday...

Emers is officially six months old today! It feels like just yesterday he was born and he can't be that old yet.

Emrick has been the happiest baby. I love when he wakes up in the morning... rubs his eyes a little, then looks at me and just grins from ear to ear.

He didn't smile as quick as Asher did. He waited until closer to 8 weeks. And he reserves his smiles for when he really wants to give them, but he is just a happy happy baby.

He jabbers a lot just like Asher did. He will lay in his bed and talk himself to sleep at night. Or just look at you and try so hard to form words with his little mouth while he coos. It's pretty adorable. I'm pretty sure he said dadadada the other day, but he hasn't done it again since. He also says mmmmm when he eats. I think we will have two talkers on our hands.

At six months these are Em's favorites:

FOODS:
- bananas (real or baby food)
- pears
- apples
- baby cheetos
- water bottles (acts like its Christmas morning when he sees them)
- banana bread
(see the running theme there... only fruit and no vegetables. doesn't like them. barely will eat his turkey and rice etc.)

TOYS:
- stuffed animals (he's a snuggler)
- mirrors
- iPad (baby piano)
- balls
- spoons and drum sticks

ACTIVITIES:
- hanging out with Asher
- taking baths
- jumping
- peek a boo

LEARNING:
- sits (still a little rolly)
- says ohhhh when you pat his mouth
- maybe says dada?

Em will always laugh at Asher when he does peek a boo. He is also very ticklish and laughs when his neck or sides are tickled.

Em loves his Dad a LOT. Anytime he sees him he starts kicking and yelling. He doesn't reach for people yet, but I have a feeling when he does it will be for daddy.

Em can sit pretty good right now and he kind of snuck that up on us. I usually sit him in the crook of the couch with some toys while we are hanging out. And when he's on the floor I always put him on my lap. Then a few days ago I sat him by himself to see what he could do and he just sat there. By himself. Like "duh mom... I've been doing this forever and you didn't notice."

Differences between Ash and Em... Ash is a comedian and always smiling or laughing. Em is very happy, but a little more reserved.

Em is such a cute boy. We are so lucky to have amazing kids. I have a feeling he will be VERY smart and catch on to things quick. I can't wait to see more of this little guys personality as he grows.

Ash and Em...

It has been so fun to watch the relationship between Ash and Em grow. Asher just loved Emrick right from the start. He was always trying to love on him and help me with him in anyway possible. We had to really push him to stay away from Em a little bit. He got right up in his face and practically mauled him. It kind of made Em feel like this whenever he was around:

See the fear in Em's eyes? Like "wow this kid is close to me again..."

But Ash didn't care and he just kept on loving Em. He always wants him to come lay in his bed for a while at bedtime. He always wants me to put him on the couch by him. He has such patience with Em. He doesn't care if he whines. He will find him a toy and give it to him. He will let Em chew on his favorite toys.

He lets him try to hijack his toys and doesn't even get mad. If Em is near him and he gets on the iPad (one of Em's favorites) then Em just pulls himself right into his lap trying to play. And Ash will quit his game and find the baby piano app for Em to play.

He is always trying to win a smile from Em.

And he has finally found the winner...

Peek a boo. Emers LOVES it. Mostly from Ash, so when he does it Em will just laugh and laugh. It melts my heart to see them smiling at each other. Em has finally decided that Ash is the best big brother in the world and he just grins from ear to ear when he sees him. When we pick up Ash from preschool, Em will just sit and babble to try to get Ash's attention. As soon as Ash looks at him he smiles so big. It's adorable. I can't get enough of the two of them together.

I mean really... how could you resist this cutie?

Ash has also been such a big help that having another baby was cake. Ash used to cry in the car. If Em cries, Ash just leans over and gives him is bink. Ash used to cry while I showered. Now Em just sits with Ash while they play toys and has a ball. Two is just easier than one. Wonder what three would be like?

(I know Tom... but a girl can still wonder.)

Morning greetings...

Em is so cute in the morning at 5:00 am that I actually don't really mind waking up to feed him. I hear him start to make little noises and I roll out of bed and head for the kitchen. Sometimes he hears me and lets out a little squeal of excitement. It's so funny. I always laugh when I hear it. After I have his bottle ready I go in his room and change his diaper. He usually jabbers in a little quiet voice at me. Like he understands we whisper not to wake up everyone else. Even though he obviously forgot that when he squealed a few minutes earlier.

He's such a good baby. It's been easy to transition into two. He and ash love each other so much, but that's a whole topic for another day. Two just seems way easy and we love having him here. Tom and I couldn't be happier with our little family.

Asher conversations...

Me: Asher, get your fingers out of your nose.
Ash: (smiles)
Me: What do you do with the boogers when you get them out?
Ash: (smiles some more) Throw them on the ground.

Oh. So. Gross.

family photos...

this poor little blog. so neglected. not even one post in December. yikes!

We were headed to Little America for breakfast a few weeks before Christmas, and I thought since we were all dressed up I'd try to get a family picture of us. I had to wake poor Emers up, and we all sat on the porch for about three minutes because that's all we could take of the cold. I at least got one or two good shots (as long as you ignore the remote in my hand which I totally forgot to hide...)

And then after breakfast I found these two cute boys lounging around:

Honestly, could they be any cuter?

So sleepy...

This is how I know my little man is ready for bed.

The little head turns to the side and tucks into my neck and chin.

I'm really trying to let him lay in bed and fall asleep so we don't end up putting him to sleep every night, but...

I can't lie. I love it. He's my little snuggler. It's the freaking best.

Asher conversations...

Ash: Is captain America scary?
Tom: I don't know but we'll turn it off if it is.
Ash: or if it has boobs and bums.

Mostly funny cause I have no idea where he heard that. We've never said it.

Another completely random convo that I have no idea what prompted it:

Ash: if two boys get married is that weird?
Me: well most boys marry girls so it is a little weird for boys to marry other boys.
Ash: should I marry a boy or a girl do you think?
Me: whatever makes you most happy.
Ash: I think I want to marry a girl.

Just funny because it was so random. I've always known I would love my boys no matter what they choose, but I didn't think we'd talk about it at age four!
